Cost of Living Budget

Local communities like ours in Mackay are struggling with a cost of living crisis – and this year’s budget from the Miles Government is focused on taking the pressure off.

Here’s how local households will save:

✅ $1000 electricity rebate (plus another $300 rebate from the Albanese federal government)

✅20% cut to your rego bill

✅ $200 FairPlay Vouchers for ALL QLD families with children between 5 and 17

✅ 50 cent public transport fares (Including from the Northern Beaches to Sarina, Mirani and everywhere in between on our local TransLink network)

✅ Freezing all other government fees and charges (so they won’t increase with inflation this year.

✅ Lifting the first home buyer stamp duty concession cap on transfers duty from $500,000 to $700,000. This will save local first home buyers up to $17,000.

We’ve also made Kindy free for local families and introduced Free TAFE courses so that locals can get the skills they need to build careers.

There’s also a $650 energy rebate for small business owners, while Seniors will get an incredible $1672 off their bills.

These measures will benefit virtually everyone in our community in one way or another and for many will help take a lot of pressure off while we wait for inflation to come down.

This is an important budget that will
